Hunters in British Columbia can now submit their applications for the 2026 limited-entry hunting (LEH) draw, a system designed to manage wildlife populations sustainably and allocate hunting opportunities in high-demand areas. The application period commenced on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, with a strict deadline of 11:59 p.m. on June 23, 2026.

This biennial review of LEH regulations ensures sustainable wildlife management, upholds Indigenous harvest rights, and provides opportunities for licensed hunters. The 2026-27 regulations incorporate updates to hunting opportunities for various species across the province. Notable changes include moose hunting in the Peace, Cariboo, and Skeena regions; caribou hunting in parts of the Peace region; mountain sheep in parts of the Cariboo region; mountain goat in sections of the Kootenay and Cariboo regions; and elk in parts of the Kootenay region. These adjustments are based on current population data, conservation priorities, public and stakeholder feedback, crowding concerns, and consultations with First Nations.

To be eligible, applicants must be B.C. residents and possess a valid Fish and Wildlife ID (FWID). Applications are to be submitted through the Wildlife Information and Licensing Data (WILD) system. It is crucial for hunters to ensure all mandatory reports, such as overdue hunter reports or permit to accompany reports, are submitted prior to applying, as failure to do so will prevent participation in the draw.

An application fee of $6.30, which includes a $5.00 application fee and a $1.30 conservation surcharge, is required and is non-refundable. Hunters are strongly advised to carefully review the 2026-27 limited-entry hunting regulations synopsis to understand all rules and ensure accuracy before submission, as refunds will not be issued for incorrect applications.

Draw results are anticipated by late June 2026 and will be accessible online via the WILD system, FrontCounter BC, Service BC, or participating vendors.
