PORT COQUITLAM, B.C. — Runners, joggers, and walkers looking to kick off their national holiday with a burst of endorphins are gearing up for the 2026 Canada Day Classic. Set for Wednesday, July 1st at Gates Park, the event promises a high-energy morning of "fast feet, loud beats, and a little red-and-white glory."
Organized in partnership with Kamino Running Co. and Vancouver is Awesome, the Canada Day Classic offers certified, measured, and chip-timed 5K and 10K courses. Designed to be fast and flat, the route is primed for seasoned athletes chasing a personal best and casual runners looking for a morning of festive fitness.
“This Canada Day, lace up and let it rip,” the event’s organizers announced. “Powered by pure good vibes and live DJ sets pumping energy from start line to finish chute, this is how you celebrate July 1st.”
The community-focused event is also running for a cause, with fundraising efforts directly supporting Childhood Cancer Canada.
Both the 5K and 10K races feature a full suite of race-day perks, including official leaderboard results, on-course photography, post-race snacks and drinks, and a custom finisher’s medal. For elite competitors, the top three male and female finishers in both distances will be awarded grand prizes from the event's sponsors.
Families are also encouraged to join the festivities. Following the main events, a free, untimed 1K Kids Run will take place for children ages 1 to 13, complete with their own finisher medals and race bibs.
