Vancouver, BC – On Friday, May 29, 2026, Canada Soccer announced the 26-player national roster for the FIFA World Cup 2026™, which includes five former Vancouver Whitecaps FC first-team players. Ali Ahmed, Derek Cornelius, Maxime Crépeau, Alphonso Davies, and Richie Laryea, all of whom previously played for the 'Caps, have been selected to represent Canada.
The Whitecaps FC organization is well-represented within the national squad, with 23% of Canada's roster having spent time with the club. Among those, Alphonso Davies is one of two players who developed through the Whitecaps FC BMO Academy program, alongside Burnaby's Niko Sigur.
In addition to the alumni, current Whitecaps FC players Sam Adekugbe, Jeevan Badwal, and Ralph Priso have been named to the provisional roster. They remain eligible as injury replacements until 24 hours before Canada's inaugural match. Priso is actively participating in the pre-World Cup training camp and will join the squad for upcoming friendlies against Uzbekistan on June 1 in Edmonton and the Republic of Ireland on June 5 in Montréal.
As a host nation, Canada is placed in Group B for the 2026 World Cup. The team will kick off its tournament against Bosnia and Herzegovina in Toronto on Friday, June 12. Vancouver fans will have the opportunity to watch Canada's subsequent group matches at BC Place, where the team will face Qatar on Thursday, June 18, and Switzerland on Wednesday, June 24. All Canadian World Cup matches will be broadcast live on TSN, CTV, Crave, and RDS. During the tournament, the team will utilize the Whitecaps FC National Soccer Development Centre for training.
Beyond the Canadian national team, six other Whitecaps FC first-team players have received international call-ups during this FIFA window. These include Sebastian Berhalter (United States), Rayan Elloumi (Tunisia), Bruno Caicedo (Ecuador pre-World Cup camp), Liam Mackenzie (Canada U-20), and Kenji Cabrera (Peru).
