Port Coquitlam, BC – June 3, 2026 – SHARE Family & Community Services (Foundry Tri-Cities) is set to embark on an inspiring art installation project thanks to a significant $10,000 Capital Matching Grant from the City of Port Coquitlam Community Grants Fund. The funding, announced today, will support "Stories in Place: Foundry Tri-Cities Art Installation," an initiative focused on creating a more welcoming and culturally grounded environment for young people and their families.

The project will feature the design, creation, and installation of four permanent, site-specific art pieces throughout the new Foundry Tri-Cities facility. This collaborative effort will involve local youth aged 12–24 and their families, working alongside acclaimed Indigenous artist Christine MacKenzie. Through a series of hands-on workshops, participants will contribute to developing imagery, symbols, and stories deeply rooted in medicine wheel teachings, ensuring the artwork authentically reflects their cultures and strengths.

The installations will include tactile wood-carved pieces in the lobby, vibrant watercolor canvases and acrylic works in the clinical counselling and primary health corridors, and diverse mixed-media pieces within the peer, family, and Indigenous youth support areas. These artworks are intended to foster a calming atmosphere, support wellness, and reduce the stigma often associated with accessing mental health services for the many Port Coquitlam youth and caregivers who will utilize Foundry Tri-Cities.

This grant was awarded through the Community Capital Projects Matching Grant Program, a testament to the ongoing partnership between the City of Port Coquitlam and the Port Coquitlam Community Foundation.
