The Museum of Anthropology (MOA) at the University of British Columbia is inviting adults to participate in its 'Art Club at MOA: Hazel Wilson' workshop. Slated for Thursday, June 18, 2026, the event will run from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm at the museum's Cedar Café. Admission to this creative session is free, and no museum entry is required, though participants should note that art supplies will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
This unique workshop draws inspiration from MOA's current feature exhibition, I Use My Haida Eyes: The History Robes of Jut-ke-Nay–Hazel Wilson. Attendees will have the opportunity to delve into the appliqué techniques central to Wilson's significant series of 51 Haida 'history robes,' which were created between 2005 and 2006 to visually narrate specific moments of Haida history. Participants will use fabric scraps to craft their own story-driven art pieces.
The 'Art Club at MOA' is a monthly series designed to offer a relaxed setting for adults to engage in creative experimentation and social interaction. It aims to foster connections among visitors and with the museum's diverse collections and exhibitions through hands-on craft activities. The Museum of Anthropology is located at 6393 NW Marine Drive in Vancouver, BC.
