COQUITLAM, BC — The City of Coquitlam will host a massive public viewing party at Percy Perry Stadium on Friday, June 12, to broadcast Canada’s opening 2026 World Cup match against Bosnia-Herzegovina. Serving as the kick-off for the municipality's upcoming soccer festivities, the free stadium-style event will begin at 11:00 a.m. with interactive fan activities on the field and plaza, followed by the live match broadcast on a large screen at 12:00 p.m.
Located at 1209 Pipeline Road within Town Centre Park, the June 12 event will also feature a dedicated lineup of local food trucks to serve attendees. Participating vendors include Canuel BBQ and Concession, Magical Rings Mini Donut & Lemonade, Meet2Eat, and Rotato Potato.
The stadium gathering is the flagship event launching Coquitlam's broader "Summer of Soccer" program, a series of free community events running through July 19, supported by funding from the Province of British Columbia.
Following the June 12 opener, the city will host a second community viewing party on Wednesday, June 24, at Blue Mountain Park. This event will broadcast Canada's group stage match against Switzerland at 12:00 p.m. Designed as a picnic-style gathering, attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets and lawn chairs, with food trucks and fan activities beginning at 11:00 a.m.
The programming continues on Wednesday, July 1, with a casual, drop-in Canada Day Soccer Viewing Area at Town Centre Park. Integrated into the city's statutory holiday celebrations, the area will broadcast two Round of 32 matches scheduled for 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
The public event schedule will conclude with a Grand Finale Viewing Party, returning to Percy Perry Stadium on Sunday, July 19. The venue will open at 10:30 a.m. for fan activities before a 12:00 p.m. live broadcast of the tournament's gold medal match.
Beyond the large-scale public viewings, the city has also launched a block party initiative to support neighborhood-level events between June 11 and July 19. Residents can apply for one of two limited packages: the "World Cup Soccer Watch Party," which provides city-managed screen and streaming infrastructure for up to 20 approved applicants, or the "World Cup Soccer Celebration," which provides a $500 municipal grant for up to 20 approved soccer-themed neighborhood gatherings. All approved block parties will receive municipal play kits.
To complement the neighborhood events, the city is inviting local restaurants, cafés, and food vendors to develop special promotions for residents hosting approved block parties. Participating businesses will be featured on Tourism Coquitlam's social media channels and have their offerings distributed directly to party hosts.
