SURREY, BC — The Surrey Police Service has announced that additional criminal charges, including extortion, have been approved against two men previously arrested in connection with a residential shooting in April.
On May 29, the BC Prosecution Service approved five new charges against 22-year-old Damanjeet Singh and 30-year-old Pardaman Singh. These include two counts of extortion, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm without authorization, and occupying a vehicle knowing a prohibited or restricted firearm was present.
The charges stem from an incident on April 22, 2026. At approximately 12:40 a.m., frontline officers responded to reports of shots fired at a residence located in the 13400 block of 87A Avenue. Police confirmed that gunfire had damaged both the home and a vehicle. The residence was occupied at the time of the attack, but no physical injuries were reported. Prior to the shooting, the resident had allegedly been the target of extortion threats.
The Surrey Police Service's Extortion Response Team assumed control of the investigation, eventually identifying a suspect vehicle and obtaining a search warrant. The two suspects were subsequently arrested during the execution of the warrant at a Surrey property, an operation that involved assistance from the Canada Border Services Agency and the Lower Mainland District Emergency Response Team.
Following their initial arrest, both men were charged with the reckless discharge of a firearm and possessing a restricted or prohibited firearm without a license.
Both suspects have been remanded into police custody. Pardaman Singh was scheduled to appear in court on June 2, while Damanjeet Singh's next court appearance is slated for June 16.
