SURREY, BC – The Surrey Police Service (SPS) has released a photograph of a 20-year-old foreign national who was recently deported following his suspected involvement in a wave of violent extortions.

Police are seeking public assistance to identify the associates and activities of Prabhjot Singh during his time in Canada. Investigators believe that although Singh has been removed from the country, his connections to local criminal cells may provide the "missing links" needed to secure further arrests in the ongoing extortion crisis.

Investigation and Deportation

Singh first came under police scrutiny in early 2026. Following an arrest by the SPS, investigators collaborated with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). A subsequent immigration investigation led to Singh’s formal removal from Canada.

Despite his deportation, Chief Constable Norm Lipinski emphasized that the investigation into Singh’s network is far from over.

“SPS continues to work with our law enforcement partners with the shared objective of tackling the interjurisdictional and national components of extortion,” Lipinski stated. “We remain steadfastly committed to our policing colleagues and to our community in combatting the extortion crisis.”

A Call for Witnesses

The decision to release Singh’s image is a calculated legal move. Under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, police may disclose such information if it is deemed necessary to further an investigation into a series of crimes.

Authorities are specifically looking for:

  • Victims who may have been targeted by Singh or his associates.

  • Witnesses who observed Singh’s activities in the Lower Mainland.

  • Associates who can provide information on the hierarchy of the criminal networks involved.

Reward for Information

The stakes remain high as the city grapples with a surge in extortion-related violence. In September 2025, a $250,000 Surrey Extortion Reward Fund was established. This fund remains active for any individual providing information that leads to the charges and convictions of those responsible for these crimes.
