Vancouver, BC – A 37-year-old man, Victor Coscarella, originally from Ontario, has been charged following an alleged unprovoked assault on a restaurant worker in the city. The incident, which reportedly left the victim with a dislocated shoulder, occurred around 11:30 a.m. on June 2 in the Mount Pleasant area.

According to the Vancouver Police Department (VPD), officers were initially dispatched to reports of a man yelling profanities and throwing an object at a vehicle. When authorities attempted to apprehend him, the suspect fled into a nearby bush before being taken into custody after a brief pursuit.

While in custody, police linked Coscarella to an earlier report of an assault. Constable Megan Lui stated that the suspect, who recently arrived in Vancouver, has been the subject of more than five police calls this week alone. The motive behind the alleged assault remains unknown.

Coscarella faces charges of assault causing bodily harm and obstructing a peace officer. As of June 3, 2026, he remains in custody and is awaiting a bail hearing.
