Langley, B.C. – The Vancouver Giants officially announced on May 26, 2026, the signing of Eli Vickers, their third overall pick in the 2026 WHL Prospects Draft, to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement. Vickers, a 2011-born defenseman from South Surrey, B.C., is poised to become a significant asset for the Giants.
Vickers made a name for himself this past season as the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) U15 Prep Top Defenceman. He dominated the U15 prep blueliners, leading them with an impressive 62 points (22 goals, 40 assists) in just 30 games. His 62 points also ranked him fifth among all U15 prep skaters and mark the third most productive blueline season in CSSHL U15 Prep history.
Giants Assistant General Manager Pete Toigo expressed the organization's enthusiasm, stating, “We’re excited to welcome Eli to our organization and announce the signing of his WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement. He’s a dynamic, offensively gifted defenceman who moves the puck exceptionally well and has the talent and work ethic to make a major impact in our league.”
Additionally, Vickers was called up to Delta’s U17 Prep team at the close of the 2025-26 season, where he continued to showcase his scoring prowess with five goals in four games. Giants Director of Player Personnel Greg Batters, who lauded Vickers as a “winner” and “leader” after the draft, believes he will quickly become a fan favourite.
With 98 points in 65 career U15 Prep games, Vickers holds the second-most points all-time among defensemen in CSSHL U15 Prep history and was a part of Delta’s 2025 CSSHL Western Championship team.
Vickers shared his gratitude, saying, “I’m so honoured to be selected by the Giants in the 2026 WHL Draft. Huge thank you to the ownership group and scouting staff for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to play for my hometown team. I also want to thank all of my coaches, teammates, family and everyone at Delta Hockey Academy and the Semiahmoo Ravens who have supported me throughout my journey. Excited for what’s ahead.”
Elite Prospects’ Top-120 Ranking for the 2026 WHL Prospects Draft identified Vickers as the top-ranked defenceman, praising his exceptional skating, mobility, and high-end hockey IQ. His diverse skill set and competitive style project him as a future top-pair defenceman.
By signing the WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement, Vickers is guaranteed a WHL Scholarship for every year he plays in the league, covering tuition, fees, and textbooks at a post-secondary institution of his choice.
