Vancouver-based West Fraser Timber Co. Ltd. has published its 2025 Sustainability Report, titled "Building Foundations for the Future," providing an in-depth look at the company's environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives and achievements. The report, released on June 3, 2026, highlights notable advancements, particularly in meeting its Science Based Target initiative (SBTi)-validated emissions goals.

Key achievements by the end of 2025 include a 25% reduction in absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions from a 2019 baseline, and a 20% reduction in Scope 3 emissions from a 2020 baseline. The company also reported that 78% of its global energy consumption was derived from biogenic and renewable sources. Furthermore, West Fraser generated $13.3 million in carbon credit sales through its regulatory compliance operations.

In terms of social and governance efforts, West Fraser secured a long-term fiber supply agreement with Lake Babine Nation Forestry for its Smithers, B.C. lumber mill. The company also released its inaugural Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) report, focusing on its operations in Alberta.
